After being delayed for a year due to world events, the fourth CAW was held in 2022 at Yarrangobilly Caves House, Kosciuszko National Park NSW. Yarrangobilly is part of the Snowy Mountains, approximately five hours out of Sydney.
Known for its wildlife, caves and thermal pool, the area also served as a historical meeting place for the Wiradjuri, Ngungawal and Wolgalu people, and was a site of extensive bushfire damage during the 2019/20 fire season.
This was the first residency that CAW founders Pat Grant and Elizabeth Macfarlane did not direct, with CAW alumni Eleri Harris and Josh Santospirito stepping into the role. With a high proportion of attendees being new to CAW, and incorporating all the lessons from residencies preceding it, CAW 2022 proved the long-term viability of the program’s design.
